“SERVE YOUR COUNTRY – MAKE A QUILT!”  Would you like an opportunity to learn basic quilting skills AND, at the same time, support and comfort injured American soldiers?

SISTO’S SEWING AND QUILTING STUDIO is sponsoring a new service project this fall that teams up beginner quilters (rookies) and experienced quilters (coaches) to make lap size quilts to donate to injured American military heroes at Walter Reed.

As part of the ongoing commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, these quilt patterns are reproductions of the 48” X 84” quilts made by women during the Civil War and donated to the U.S. Sanitary Commission that distributed them to Union soldiers. A sample of one of these quilts is now on display at Sisto’s .
