About LIbby Lehman
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Making quilts is an utter joy for me. Though parts of the
process can be tedious, the product is always worth the
effort. I cannot imagine not making quilts. They are an
integral part of my life. The making of quilts is woven
through my days in much the same way as reading, sleeping or
visiting with friends. Having a home studio allows me to
work for five minutes or hours on end. I like the freedom to
come and go, to work in spurts or for longer periods as I
choose. What a luxury!
"I work on one quilt at a time, from start to finish
(“finish” means the slides are taken and in the notebook).
This discipline helps me to focus in on each quilt as a
distinct entity. It also cuts down on the clutter, both
literally and figuratively. Part of my creative process
involves an ongoing dialogue with my quilts; too many voices
trying to talk at once would be distracting. It usually
takes from a few days to a month to complete a quilt.
Being a studio art quilt-maker has given me experiences and
opportunities I would never have had otherwise. I am very
grateful for the chance to share my quilts with others in
the hope that they will touch a chord somewhere in kindred
souls".

Stitches for Hope
- March 31 - April 13
Sisto's will be participating in the Stitches for Hope.
Here's how it works. Donate a useable machine to Sisto's and
you will receive a rebate form worth $100 with the purchase
of a new Bernina of $1000 or more. We in turn will donate
the machine to a girls rehab center locally. What a great
way to spread your love sewing and help someone in need.
Now if you don't want a new machine, but have an old one in
good working order, we suggest The Sewing Machine Project -TSMP
(www.thesewingmachineproject.org).
This worthy organization was founded and continues to be
headed by Margaret Jankowski, who works for Hans Sewing
Center (a Bernina Dealer). Margaret was intensely moved by
the blight of people hit by the 2005 tsunami and first
concentrated her efforts there. After Katrina hit in late
2005, she turned her efforts to New Orleans & Louisiana. Her
efforts have helped literally hundreds of people and she
continues her efforts to this day. TSMP also gratefully
accepts cash donations, It is a 501C non-profit.

have past month's kits for $3 each. Just ask for them at the
cash register. Because this is our first experience with
Buck-A-Blocks, we will not have finishing kits available
until September when we are sure how much fabric we have
left. Thank you for your patience on the finishing kits.
